VDO is described on its official website as an established product brand of AUMOVIO. The brand profile says VDO is one of the world's leading suppliers of electronic and telematics solutions for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and off-highway applications (the company's own wording).

The profile lists sensors, display instruments, on-board computers, digital tachographs and telematics systems for fleet management. It adds that the aftermarket portfolio now also includes replacement and wear parts such as common rail diesel components, fuel systems, tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), engine control elements and turbochargers.
